Lubbers Farm, Grand Rapids, MI
Spent a day on Lubbers Farm in Grand Rapids MI last week to shoot a story on raw milk for BusinessWeek Magazine. They farm organically and sustainably and have for over a decade since their daughter was diagnosed with brain cancer. The milk is delicious, and goes from cow to glass in about 5 minutes. It taste like grass since that’s all they let the cows eat. Actually it’s the best milk i’ve ever tasted! Their daughter is now an adult who, while having sustained brain damage and hearing loss from the treatment, is very healthy. Lubbers Farm raises meats and operates a cow share program. They offer beef, pork, lamb, turkey, chicken and eggs and also house a bakery, the Little Rooster Bread Company.

Honey 1 BBQ, Chicago, IL, USA
Photographed at Honey 1 BBQ last week for Forbes magazine. The story was actually more on the owner Robert Adams and food writer Gary Wiviott. However I really got a kick out of the some of the extra images from the shoot, like the signs and of course images of some of Robert’s famous BBQ dishes. Being a vegetarian I did more looking than eating but it was still an interesting morning.

Puerto Rico, February 2009
A few images from a long weekend trip to Puerto Rico about a month or so back. It’s a great place with the nicest people, just a terrible place to camp!

Iowa farmers
Spent a few very cold days in the heartland of Iowa for a story on the economic upturn in the farming business. Besides the freezing weather and ice storms it was a fun time.
